RENO, Nev. - A Reno man who failed to report the abuse of his girlfriend's three children has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
``You didn't do the right thing,'' Washoe District Judge Steven Kosach told Jeff Hatch during his sentencing Wednesday. ``You were thinking with you know what. You're not the first guy to do that.''
Last week, Kosach sentenced Hatch's former girlfriend, Ashley Crew, now 21, to a 20-year prison term for allowing her 4-year-old twin sons and their 1-year-old brother in 2005 to suffer from abuse, burns and injuries and not giving them immediate medical care.
Authorities couldn't determine who inflicted the children's injuries, but said neither did anything while the boys suffered.
Hatch, 30, and Crew must serve at least two years in prison before being eligible for parole.
``I feel terrible for what happened and take 100 percent responsibility for not reporting what I saw,'' Hatch told the judge. ``At no time did I ever lay a finger on them or beat them.''
